Fiona is a North Carolina native who specializes in comics, illustrations, and bridging the divide between the written word and visual imagery. Her work focuses on nature, emotions, queer experiences, social justice, and history both local and global, frequently embracing fantasy as a vehicle. When she isn't drawing, she is a historic reenactor and sword fighter, a gardener, a swing dancer, a TTRPG player, and the doting owner of a small black cat and a large brown dog.

As a comics creator by trade, I like to start with a script blocking out the major beats of the action, and then figure out how much space over how many pages I have to fit everything in. Then I gather a bunch of reference images to inspire and inform my work before I begin designing anything like costume and location that will recur over and over in the story. After that, I lay out thumbnails for every page so that I know how one image will flow into the next through the whole project. Once all of that planning is done, it's just a matter of drawing and painting until the work is finished!
I've been a dancer my whole life! I started in ballet as a kid, and transitioned to modern dance instead of going en pointe and continued with that all the way through high school. Once I was in college I got into swing dance and lindy hop, which I still do whenever I can, and I've also had some experience with contra dance and various historical dancing through my hobby as a historical reenactor!
My parents, my husband Duncan, and my mother-in-law Beth for connecting me with Linden Street Press!
